Majnuntol Teahouse
Teahouse with over-water pavilions in the Eternal City
A canal-side teahouse in the Eternal City at Silk Road Samarkand: pavilions under weeping willows, open-air tapchans, Samarkand bread, shashlik and jiz-biz.
Majnuntol (“weeping willow”) is in the Eternal City quarter of the Silk Road Samarkand tourist complex, on the bank of the rowing canal. According to the complex's website, it has an eastern-style dining room, open-air tapchan platforms and pavilions over the water in the shade of weeping willows.
The menu is simple: freshly baked Samarkand “Osiyo” bread from the tandoor, shashlik, jiz-biz and fragrant herbal tea, plus salads and manti. Reviewers say tables fill quickly in the evening, and some report being charged a separate fee for the table.
