Privacy policy & cookies
sam.uz is an information site about Samarkand. This page explains what data the site collects, why, and for how long it is kept.
What we collect
Visit statistics: which pages were opened, where the visitor came from (for example, Google or Instagram), how long they stayed on a page, which phone number or external link was tapped, and what was typed into the site search.
About the device: browser, operating system, screen size, language and time zone.
IP address and the approximate location derived from it (country, region, city). IP addresses are deleted after 90 days.
Venue owner account: name, phone number, password (stored encrypted) and the venue details you enter.
Contact form: your message and the contact details you leave.
Android and iOS apps: the same statistics as on the website (which screens were opened, what was tapped); instead of a cookie, a random identifier created at installation. It can be switched off in the app settings. Location is used only on your phone when you tap “My location” on the map and is never sent to the server. The iOS app has no ads and no tracking.
Why
To improve the site: to see which information is needed most and which pages have errors. For security: protection against spam and attacks.
Statistics are kept on the sam.uz server itself — no third-party services such as Google Analytics or Yandex Metrica are used. Data is never used for advertising, sold or shared with third parties.
How long we keep data
IP address and full browser identifier — 90 days. Statistics without IP (country, device, pages) — 2 years. Venue owner accounts — until deletion is requested.
Third-party services
Instagram blocks on some pages load only after you start interacting with the page and are subject to Meta’s own policies. Maps, fonts and all other files are served from the sam.uz server.
Location is derived from the IP address using the DB-IP (db-ip.com) database on the sam.uz server; the IP address is not sent anywhere.
Your rights
You may ask to see, correct or delete data about you (Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Personal Data”). Use the Contact page.

A cookie is a small record stored in your browser. sam.uz uses:

If you decline, sam_v is not set — your visit is counted anonymously, without cookies, separately for each day. Your saved places list stays in browser storage (localStorage) on your device only.
