New Samarkand Bus Station

Opened in August 2025 on Chupan-Ata hill, about 6 km east of the Registan, the new bus station serves the Tashkent and Jizzakh regions, and long-distance buses from Tashkent call here.

A new terminal

The bus station opened in August 2025. The $12 million project was built as a public–private partnership with the company SXF Camping; it can take 100 buses, 150 minibuses and 300 cars at a time and is designed for more than 15,000 passengers a day. Plans to move Samarkand's bus station out to the Chupan-Ata area were announced as early as 2019.

Routes

According to the Ministry of Transport, buses leave from here for the Tashkent and Jizzakh regions, while services from Tashkent to the Bukhara, Navoi, Khorezm, Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya regions call on their way through. Shared intercity taxis have their own waiting area.

Facilities

There is a spacious waiting hall with electronic departure boards, a mother-and-child room, a children's play area and a medical room. Ramps and dedicated corridors serve passengers with reduced mobility, and the complex also holds 120 shops, three restaurants and two hotels.

Getting there

The station sits beside the Samarkand ring road, roughly 6 km east of the Registan as the crow flies. Public transport stops are close by, but route numbers are not officially published, so check Yandex Maps or 2GIS. The easiest option is a ride-hailing taxi. Yandex Maps lists the station as open 24 hours.

Some guidebooks still point to the old bus station near the airport — confirm where your bus actually leaves from.
No online timetable is published for departures from Samarkand, so check times and fares at the station itself.
