One of Samarkand's largest malls, opened in 2021: three floors of shops, an ice arena, bowling, a cinema, go-karts and a family play zone.

Something for everyone

The Family Park shopping and entertainment centre opened in March 2021 in the Sogdiana district on the western side of the city, on Narpay Street. Built by Mirankul Group, the complex covers 43,000 square metres. Its three floors hold fashion, perfume, jewellery, electronics, book and souvenir shops, a large supermarket and a food court with international chains.

Many people come for the leisure rather than the shopping. There is the Ice Arena rink with seating for about 1,800, an eight-lane bowling alley, a cinema, a go-kart track with British-made electric karts, and a children's zone with carousels, trampolines, a climbing wall and mazes. There is underground parking. Wikivoyage describes it as Samarkand's largest shopping mall.

Nearby, also on Narpay Street, is the Sogdiana water park.

Did you know?

Before opening, the developers expected 12,000–14,000 visitors on weekdays and 16,000–20,000 at weekends and on holidays. The complex also hosts concerts, shows and other events, with tickets sold online — which makes it more a family day out than simply a mall.

Good to know

  • A good escape with children on a scorching summer afternoon or a wet winter day.
  • Check public skating sessions and event schedules at the ice arena in advance.
  • It is a long way from the old town — allow 15–20 minutes by taxi.

Details may change — please check before you visit.
