A Friday mosque at the entrance to the Shah-i-Zinda ensemble; in 2016 the regional office of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan described it as Samarkand's central mosque.
39 Shohizinda St, Samarkand
The mosque stands within the Shah-i-Zinda complex, beside the main entrance portal. The complex at this address (39 Shohizinda St) is on the national heritage register as a monument of the 11th–19th centuries and is used free of charge by the Vaqf charitable foundation.
During Ramadan the whole Qur'an is recited here over the tarawih prayers; the closing ceremony (khatm) on 19 June 2016, for example, was held in this mosque.
